WHAT IS THE u3a?

Borehamwood & Elstree u3a is a volunteer led organisation for retired and semi-retired people in and around Borehamwood & Elstree, providing for its members life-enhancing and life-changing opportunities . Members come together to share their skills and experiences, and to learn together, not in order to pass exams or gain qualifications, but for the sheer enjoyment of learning and discovering. The u3a movement is supported by its national organisation, the Third Age Trust.
WHY NOT COME AND MEET US?
We are a friendly local group who have been meeting since the year 2002. We meet regularly in Borehamwood on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 10 - 12noon at St Teresa's Church Hall, Shenley Road, Borehamwood, WD6 1TG, opposite the Civic Centre Car Park, which can be used by members and visitors. The talks start at 10.30 sharp, but arrive from 10am in order to have coffee and a chat first.
The monthly meetings for members include a variety of speakers on different subjects.You may attend up to two meetings as a 'Visitor' at a cost of £3 per meeting.
WHY NOT COME AND JOIN US?
If you are retired/semi retired you are invited join, in order to participate in educational, creative and leisure activities. Our annual membership is £20 a year and members may join any number of interest groups. There may be small additional charges for some special interest groups. If you wish to join us the Contact page will take you to a contact email address where you may obtain further information.
On the 'Links' page, there is a membership application form which may be completed online and emailed, and payment made by bank transfer. Alternatively, if you prefer you may print and post it with a cheque to the Membership Secretary
We have at present approximately two dozen regular Interest Groups, often meeting in Members' homes, and this enables us to make new friends as well as enjoy new interests. Groups may be held weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
We have some events each year to which family and friends can be invited. In addition many members venture further afield, to concerts, exhibitions, gardens and lectures.
